This is very ideal to be placed in a room where there are a lot of people that comes in and out. I like that it still gives a high resolution feed with a resolution of 752 x 583 for PAL and 768 x 493 for NSTC. Even at night, it still gives quality images because it automatically turns on its backlight compensation. The video feed does not also lag despite the extreme temperatures either hot or cold. Really made me laugh when I saw this, a camera disguised as a smoke detector, this is one heck of a concept, but I like it and would definitely recommend it, I have bought a pair of these for your info and I am satisfied. I can put it anywhere and would not incur the wrath of many for intruding in their private lives but what the heck I need security in my home and shop. Yeah, I felt like I am fully safeguarded against fire and burglary or with my nanny treating my kids well. You know, as a working mom, so busy with my online business, I have so much to do. But with AS-558H Color Smoke Detector Camera, I can watch the nanny later at night and I know I will be warned for danger in fire. You never know with the kids around (I have two and three years old). So this device is really convenient for me, works well too. My three year old son tested the smoke detector (this is another story). So all in all, I am very happy. (Posted on 12/22/11)
