A toy for all ages

Young children most likely majority of it are boys has a tendency to be mesmerized by the uniquely designed Radio Controlled Helicopter which is a miniature crafted replica remote control helicopter toy. Male adults alike are also fascinated with this invention with no time or money to actually ride a helicopter this hobby would be a fine alternative. Radio Controlled helicopter has a lot of new models that are use with high quality Metal gyroscope applied to produce a perfect control for indoor or outdoor flying.

But the best so far is the one made that is powered by RC helis, that there is one for every budget to choose from Toy, Micro, and Coaxial, Electronic Netro, Gas, Scale and Jet turbine brands. Though they have the same power source ,these brands of Radio Controlled Helicopter still has a distinction in some of its features and will be maneuvered and be flying differently from one another.

A variation of it are fitted for kids skill for ease of use in adapting themselves to its function in maneuvering it, especially for beginners, an adult supervision is required for kids need to be a little patient in handling this to be able for them to learn its technique. The remote control comes in small design and its power can be recharge through the computer by using usb device. It is also made of a durable material combining steel and plastic that in any event of crashing it, no damage will occur.

Radio controlled Helicopter, for adults are more complex and extensive for it requires constant practice to be able to achieved proficiency in maneuvering its remote control. A basic idea of flying will also be useful for first timers to fully grasp its way of moving from one direction of the machine to the control of its blade. A recommendation to practice with the RC simulator will be of help in gaining confidence and preventing crashes .In relation to that choosing a model that has inclusion of spare parts might be advantageous, for in case of accidental crash, you will have an on hand replacement of parts or better yet place crash kit on it for starters for protection when crashing occurs. Try to be open minded in your selection, weigh first the pros and con, choose the one’s that you can handle easier, hover more before going to higher heights, taking it easy in early attempt, familiarize yourself with its parts and function and slowly practice on landings and vice versa.

This toy is probably one of the most ultimate gift to buy to all ages for birthdays and other Occasions for its sophistication in technology is highly impressive, plus not only the receiver will enjoy using it but the spectators will have a great time watching it soaring high in the sky.

Although it takes time to get use to it, the aftermath will become a fun and a rewarding one. Nevertheless, Radio Controlled Helicopter for kids and adults enthusiast to any age bracket will truly be awed by its function and playtime has never been this good.

In a fast moving world with heaping workloads to finish, deadlines to keep, and obligations to meet, life can often get very stressful. In all honesty, all that stress is usually worth the reward, because in the performance-based societies most of us live in, the more you work and the better you do your job, the better you are compensated as well – and consequently, the better the improvements you can make to your quality of life.

But just like anything in life, too much off a good thing can be very bad, and when it comes to too much stress, very bad can sometimes be an understatement. Stress can keep you from enjoying the rewards of your hard work, it can impair your judgement and keep you from performing your duties well, it can conjure negative emotions and destroy social linkages that were perfectly put up, but worst of all, it can destroy you. Studies have shown time and time again that excessive stress can result in a myriad of adverse effects. People who are exposed to too much stress are more prone to develop chronic health problems, experience negative psychological reactions such as depression, anxiety, or anger, and are less driven and motivated to accomplish tasks set before them. Therefore, once in a while, it is a good idea to distance ourselves from stress and stressful situations – to basically lead a slower and simpler life.

One of the best ways to slow down, relax, and allow stress to drift away is to go on a camping trip with friends or family, spend time having fun with each other, and take a moment to commune with nature and reconnect with yourself. Camping offers many advantages over going on a prolonged vacation trip while still offering roughly the same relief from stress, and going on regular camping trips allows you to maximize this effect. Because finding good camping spots, whether designated or not, isn’t very hard, and because they also are usually only a 2 or 3 hour drive outside the city, camping is something that can easily be done weekly, or every 2 or three weeks.

Many people find planning a camping trip difficult and stressful in itself, but knowledge and practice can help make it a very pleasurable experience throughout. Making sure that you have the right gear is always the first great step to making sure that your camping trip goes off without a hitch.

One very good idea is to always have a good tent ready. Many avid campers and hikers who go out almost every weekend will often have more than one tent, this allows them to go out on camping trips even if a tent used previously hasn’t been cleaned and waterproofed. Some campers and hikers will also have tents of different sizes, giving them the option to bring a smaller, lighter tent along should they ever decide to go on a camping trip on their own or a larger one when camping with a group.

The same idea also applies to sleeping bags. Having a selection of sleeping bags at home also keeps you prepared to go on a camping trip even when the one you previously used hasn’t yet been cleaned. Good sleeping bags can also help to reduce the amount of weight you will be carrying for campers and hikers who are comfortable with camping out without a tent when camping out in the summer in places with less harmful or aggressive wildlife.

In places where downpours are a lingering issue, having a good rain jacket on hand is always a good idea. A good tent should keep you warm and dry when it rains, but the occasional need leave the shelter of the tent can get you cold and wet, and leave you miserable even after you’ve returned to the relative shelter of your tent.

If you are new to camping, it also isn’t a bad idea to over-plan. You might carry significantly more weight than you really should, but with each excursion, your knowledge of the areas you camp out at increases, and you will learn to prepare only what you need for a certain area.

In time, as you become a more confident and knowledgeable camper or hiker, going on a camping trip becomes less and less of a chore to plan. You will learn to always have your supplies ready for any opportunity to go out into the great outdoors. You will also know how to get the best deals on equipment by buying them from China at discount prices. And if you ever decide to make camping out a regular activity, the regular relief from stress will allow you to perform at a higher level each week with more energy and a clearer mind, keeping you satisfied and better focused on the goals in life that really matter to you!

I’ve always had a fascination for the way that Lin Dan plays badminton. It’s true he isn’t the world’s number one badminton player at the moment, according to the Badminton World Federation Men’s Singles ranking, but there’s just something so intimidating about the way he plays that makes it difficult even for the top seeded Lee Chong Wei to compete against him.

What marks Lin Dan’s style of play is his quickness to get behind the shuttlecock and his athleticism on the court. Look up any video of Lin Dan playing badminton, and you’re bound to see him diving around the court making some of the most amazing saves you’ll ever see. And although “Super Dan,” as he is sometimes called by his fans, has slowed down a little bit in the last one or two years, he is still one of the most aggressive badminton players who’s ever played the game.

Lin Dan’s signature speed and agility on the court did not, of course, come naturally. Lin Dan began playing badminton at the age of 5, a choice he made for himself over his parents desires for him to play the piano, and constantly pursued to better himself in and through the game by joining the People’s Liberation Army and later the Chinese national badminton team in 2001. Lin Dan’s only notable junior achievement was reaching the semi-finals of the 2000 World Junior Championships and at the start of his professional career between 2001 and 2003 was met with defeat without coming close to victory in most of the professional tournaments he participated in, and it wasn’t until 2004, with the help of many training camp sessions, that he finally found his feet in the game, earning the number one ranking of the Badminton World Federation.

Lin Dan’s badminton success clearly shows how dedicated training can improve a player’s skills and abilities, and allow him or her to win competitions. No matter how tiring it may be, putting in time at the court is an essential requirement to becoming better. Only when the quiet hiss of the shuttlecock and the light drone of the vibrations running through the badminton racquet‘s shaft becomes very familiar to you can you expect to perform well on a competitive court.

Many badminton players live under the impression that if you have the best badminton equipment money can buy, then it will be easier to become better at the game faster. Good badminton equipment might help you improve your game, to some degree, but nothing beats the time you have spent in training. You might have the best Yonex badminton racquet and play with the best Yonex Aerosensa shuttlecocks, but that isn’t any guarantee of success. Lin Dan himself shows how small a difference equipment plays – he no longer uses Yonex equipment and instead uses racquets, shoes, and clothing by Li-Ning, a Chinese brand that is popular in China but is struggling on the world market. I’ve had the same experience in the 6 or so years that I’ve been playing badminton – I had, at one time, no choice but to borrow my ex-boss’s cheap steel badminton racquet with thick strings and horrible tension for a few weeks, but I ended up playing better with that racquet than any racquet I had used before that, and this subsequently improved my whole game with any of the better racquets I’ve owned after that.

So if you really want to play at your best, then it’s dedication to training that counts – not equipment. Whether you’re playing with a Yonex Nanospeed 7000 or a racquet with an obscure brand that you bought from an online wholesaler, if you’ve exerted a lot of effort into mastering your basics and spent hours repeating drills over and over until they are perfected, then any competitive appointment at the badminton court is sure to go your way – or at least you’ll have a fighting chance. So get in that court and put in the time you need to excel today!

China has been making golf heads for the bulk of golf equipment companies for a pretty long time now. Because of the cheap skilled labor and plenty of technical expertise, companies such as Adams, Callaway, Cleveland, Cobra, Nike, TaylorMade, and Titleist agree that it is a “no-brainer” to have their heads manufactured in China because it helps them increase their profit margin and offer top quality products at a lower cost.

In fact, Chinese golf clubs were once a topic of controversy because first-rate quality clones of popular golf clubs were making its way into US markets, at costs US companies could not compete against. And the clubs were very good; many players claimed that they were better than any club that could be bought in the US, simply because orders of clubs from China could be customized to fit a player’s needs as specified by a professional clubfitter and manufacturers of golf clubs from China could offer them a wider choice of shafts and grips.

Although some companies still clone the golf clubs of popular US brands, many Chinese manufacturers have left the business of cloning US golf clubs to venture into making their own golf clubs, allowing them to compete more directly with the big name players in the industry – taking with them the cheap skilled labor and technical expertise that they once used to clone brand name golf clubs or that they had offered as manufacturing subcontractors for US companies. This has allowed Chinese golf club manufacturers to develop their own products and still be able to market their high quality golf clubs at impossibly low prices. Where a Callaway golf club in the US might cost upwards of $400, Chinese golf equipment manufacturers are able to produce their own golf clubs and have them marketed by online wholesalers for under $40 – that’s a mere 10% of the price of the Callaway club for a golf club of comparable quality!

Aside from high quality golf clubs, Chinese manufacturers are also able to produce high quality golf balls and golf bags at the same incredibly low price. Chinese golf balls come in a variety of designs, hardnesses, and grades. Three layer and two layer variants exists, as do different types of cores, all to suit your particular style of play. Aside from that, there are more creative balls as well – from different colors to plated balls to glow in the dark balls for evening play!

Their years of experience with working with different types of fabrics and materials also allow them to produce high quality golf bags, again, at prices that are impossible to beat anywhere else. They produce different types of golf bags – from ordinary golf bags to golf bags with wheels, that are intended for those who prefer to self-caddie, to golf bags with stands to help keep your golf clubs within easy reach.

As much as it is a no-brainer for US companies to have their products subcontracted to manufacturing companies in China, it is also a no-brainer that Chinese golf equipment companies are here to stay. If you’re looking to gear yourself up for a stellar day at the golf course, but fear the equally astronomical costs of US brand name golf clubs, look to China and its selection of cheap golf equipment!

Today is the last day of what is often termed “the greatest bike race,” the Tour de France. One hundred and sixty seven riders will be riding into Paris toward the finish at the Avenue des Champs-Élysées. This year’s race into Paris, which is usually more ceremonial rather than competitive, will mark the first time that an Australian, Cadel Evans, will be crowned the winner of the Tour de France and will end what has been one of the most dramatic and exciting Tours to date.

This Le Tour has been no exception to the fact that during July, cyclists around the world catch a disease that not only keeps them glued to the television or the internet for several hours a day, it also gets them motivated to train harder and go farther: Tour Fever. Tour Fever is described as that almost irrational desire to want to be in France to watch the tour, or at least stay informed about it as it unfolds via whatever medium is available to fans. It gets cycling fans riled up, gets them dressed in weird ways to celebrate the tour, and for those who do cycle on a regular basis, makes them want to get on their bike, ride off into the distance, overcome weak days, challenge their limits, and open themselves up to new cycling possibilities. Le Tour de France is, after all, more than just a race to many, it’s a culture refined through the years, one that induces extreme euphoria in almost every fan and encourages suffering for the sport (like the Tour’s participants do) in every cyclist – yours truly included.

Because many cyclists will be taking to the streets more seriously following the tour, it is a good time to highlight some very important reminders to help make cycling not only safe and fun, but allow you to train longer and harder without having to worry about any problems you might encounter on the road.

First of all, don’t worry too much about looking Euro-cool when training. Training is training after all, and you’re not out there just to look good – unless you can fulfill the demands of looking Euro-cool even during long and arduous training rides. This basically sets the basis for all my other reminders, as often times, riding Euro-cool means that you’ll need to forego some of the equipment you might need on the road to make sure that your training ride goes well.

Looking Euro-cool demands that you never carry anything in your jersey’s pockets, because that would imply that you have a team car carrying all your gear for you, but unless you do have a team car, I would strongly advice against this. The suggestions in the PezCycling News article You Look Mah-velous: Cycling Style Etiquette are essentially the very basic things you should bring: a small tube, a tiny pump, and a tire lever. But I suggest that you bring a set of allen hex keys as well – you can get these in a set specifically made for cyclists, with only the sizes you’ll need to fix a bike in a small, light, Swiss Army Knife-like contraption for storage. And if you don’t mind a little extra weight, a complete cyclist’s multi-tool, and perhaps 2 or 3 tire patches, might also be a great idea, especially if your training ride is going to be a classics style 150 miles or more.

Nothing says Euro-cool better than riding with nothing more than a cycling cap for head protection, but the article You Look Mah-velous also goes on to say that crashing, getting a concussion, and drooling out the side of your head isn’t Euro-cool at all, too. So yes, wear a helmet! And on that same note, wear a good pair of gloves as well, as this will keep your hands from slipping off the handle bars if ever you crack and are too tired to keep a nice strong grip on the bars.

Make sure you also dress for the weather. If it’s cold, don’t forget to wear a long cycling jersey and pants. This will keep your muscles from getting too cold and causing you to be unable exert as much effort as you otherwise should be able to. When you’re out in the heat, wear something shorter to keep you from overheating. If it’s really hot out, don’t worry about wearing a sleeveless jersey, no matter how un-Euro-cool it may be – your ability to ride another day is more important than looking good on the road.

Also never go out on a night ride without a light. Gladly, many online wholesale shops offer LED lights – which don’t mark you as not being Euro-cool. On very long rides, it might be a good idea to equip your bike with one, even if you’ll be starting your ride during the day so that you’ll be prepared before it starts to get dark and you don’t have to have more weight in your pockets.

Finally, and most importantly, never go out on a training ride without bringing some fluids with you – whether you’re bringing water or some sort of sports drink it’s important to have something to replace lost fluids when you’re training hard. Cyclists riding road bikes will also be happy to know that a water bottle on the down tube can help to make a bike more aero, and mountain bikers will definitely find a good bladder installed in a hydration pack convenient.

So if Le Tour de France has got you hyped up for a ride, then by all means, get out there! But make sure that you’ll be prepared no matter what happens on the road. Train hard and strong and let the Fever push you farther!

I know you’re probably wondering about the title right now, but there really is a bit of a connection between cycling, Chris Horner, the 2011 Tour de France, and Bigboxstore. Well, we’re not sponsoring the team Chris Horner is in, of course, that’s Radioshack’s business, nor do we have the resources to do so, but we are glad that Chris Horner is still alive after his crash in this year’s Tour de France – and that’s what this post is really all about.

Safety should be of the utmost concern when cycling, and the crashes that have riddled Le Tour de France 2011 really stand to drive that point home. Cycling after all pits a rider 1-on-1 with the open road, and all the dangers that are accompanied with it. Whether or not you’re riding with friends or alone, there are bound to be complications at some time or the other.

The biggest safety concern for any cyclist is protecting his or her head as no other part of the body is more susceptible to life threatening injury. It is because of this that helmets are an absolute necessity for any cyclist, whether he or she rides for recreational or professionally, occasionally or almost everyday, or on a road bike or any other type of bike for that matter.

Fortunately, there are a wide range of helmets out there that vary greatly in terms of price and quality – but never on safety. In fact, if you’re in the market for a good bike helmet, I have a few tips for you when it comes to choosing one.

The April 2008 edition of the cycling magazine Bicycling makes this suggestion when choosing bike helmets in their article Buyer Be Wise, “All helmets sold in the United States meet CPSC safety standards, so a $30 lid is equally as good at protecting your head as a $200 one. Many under-$60 helmets offer fit systems similar to pricier models, often head straps with buckles or dials for easy adjustment. They lack just flashy styling and extra vent holes” (page 32). In short, you simply have to make sure that the helmet you get passes CPSC safety standards and you can be sure that you’ll still be okay after you take a spill on the bike – so buying a helmet from a respectable online wholesaler shouldn’t be a problem as long as they pass those rather stringent standards.

Back to the subject of Chris Horner, it was probably his helmet that kept him alive. He broke his nose and sustained a concussion to his head when he crashed, but he survived – an equally hard crash made without the helmet would probably be fatal. True, you might have seen from the video, he was so disoriented after the crash that it isn’t even funny, but he can still get up from his crash to race another day. In fact, doctors have said that he is doing significantly better.

I have a friend who suffered a crash just two weeks ago, without a helmet, but gladly at significantly lower speeds. My friend suffered a broken collarbone and a similar temporary loss of memory and disorientation from a crash on a bike moving at around 23 kilometers per hour – the peloton was travelling in excess of 40 kilometers per hour when Chris Horner crashed. Now image might what might have happened if my friend was travelling at the same speed. It wouldn’t have been a good day at all.

Get a bicycle helmet today.

Have you ever had the fantasy of driving a tank out to battle, or maybe soaring through the air in your own airplane, or flying a military jet? Or maybe you might have wished that you had your own boat or could take your car out to a dirt track and have it do long, high jumps off of different ramps in a “motocross” car race?

Well, for the average person, such things might just be out of our league. But there are always alternatives that we can use to live out our fantasies.

We can, of course, play a simulator on a computer, but playing a simulator isn’t always everybody’s cup of tea. Some of us want to live out our fantasies in the form of something physical that we can touch and operate – something just short of actually being the real thing. There’s nothing quite like being outside in the elements, actually feeling the weather, having it affect your decisions as you operate your dream vehicle. We long for the roar of an engine as we open up the throttle and have actual dust and dirt thrown up and into the air as we pass our vehicles by. We’re looking for the sense of something tangible actually being there.

If you’re that kind of person, then you’ll definitely enjoy flying or driving or steering your own RC or radio controlled toy. With RCs you get to experience the sense of having an actual vehicle in your control. Everything you’re used to when operating the vehicle exists and influences what you do – there is an actual wind when flying your RC airplane and it will affect how you fly it, dust and dirt are kicked up as you drive your RC buggy by at high speeds, and an RC boat will slice through real water. Unlike computer simulations, you can actually touch your RC, explore it, modify it, tune it, and bond with it – really call it your own. Like I was saying earlier, anything more than that and you’ve got the real thing. Almost anybody I know, in fact, will admit that RCs appeal to them, simply because it represents something real and tangible.

However, many people don’t go into the hobby of owning and operating their own RC toy. People have many reasons not to: they’re too expensive, too time consuming, or they’re simply not interested. But if you interested, then the other two reasons I stated shouldn’t be a problem – RCs can also be affordable and they can be just as quick and easy as taking a toy out of a box and letting it go.

When people say that RCs can be too expensive, they are actually right, but only partly. The reason that many people think they’re expensive is that assembling your own can indeed run you up into the hundreds of dollars. And for people who find RCs too time consuming, they’re thinking of the same thing, too, assembling an RC and maintaining it can take a lot of time indeed.

To both those reasons, I have one recommendation: ready-to-. Ready-to-fly or RTF RC planes are a popular alternative for people who want to fly RC planes without having to go through the trouble and expense of assembling an RC plane kit by themselves, the same is applicable for RC boats as ready-to-sail or RTS, and for RC land vehicles as ready-to-drive or RTD. RT(F/S/D)s require little or now assembling, so it’s as easy as unpacking it and letting it go. They can also be manufactured cheaply because they can be mass produced, and this also makes them cheaper at point-of-sale than models that are assembled.

So if you’d like to start pursuing the hobby of flying, sailing, or driving your own plane, boat, or land vehicle, respectively, but are afraid of the costs and time consumption, then it’s a very good idea to look at ready-to- RCs. It’s definitely a great way to introduce yourself safely to the hobby.

Many ready-to- RCs are also available at lower prices from Chinese manufacturers and the quality of Chinese RCs is comparable with models produced in the west. For an overview of the selection available from China, be sure to check out online wholesale shops, as many of these carry RCs.

In less than 2 months, football clubs across Europe will start kicking off their 2011-12 campaigns. That means a fresh batch of excitement and a whole lot of fanfare for everyone!

Football season always brings the best (and worst, sometimes) out of the fans. We all know the shenanigans that many football fans out there do to get noticed and to show off their support for their favorite teams. We see them out in small groups outside their favorite club’s stadiums with beers in hand, shirts removed, letters painted on their bodies to form the name of the club or one of the players, and getting for an all-around good time. Sometimes you’ll see them with funny hats, or giant hands, or other cheering paraphernalia. But most of all, you’ll see them in droves, dressed in the hallowed colors of their favorite team. Nothing really shows your support for the team better than sporting the teams own jersey.

As the start of the new football season in August approaches, each teams’ jersey for the 2011-12 campaigns begin to go on stock in online wholesalers around the world. This is so that fans will have something to wear even on the very first fixtures involving their favorite teams. In fact, FC Barcelona released its 2011-12 jersey to the fans even before their Champions League final match against Manchester United F.C.

This years lineup of jerseys have shown a divergence in styles between the “big two” major football kit providers. Nike has opted to go semi-retro in their team kit designs for clubs such as FC Barcelona, Manchester City F.C., Arsenal F.C, and Manchester United F.C. to name a few. In December 2010, there was an incident where the design for the team kits of FC Barcelona, Manchester United F.C., and Arsenal F.C. were allegedly leaked. However, since then, we can see that Nike has made several improvements to the these teams’ team kits since December. Adidas, on the other hand, is going down the simpler road, with solid colors or simple stripes as with their designs for Chelsea F.C., Real Madrid C.F., and Liverpool F.C. and the other teams that they design kits for.

There are also new team kits for the national teams this year. FIFA confederations will be starting their first round qualifications for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil this year and fans supporting their countries’ respective efforts in the FIFA qualifications will be sure to purchase fan gear in time for their countries’ respective qualification games.

It’s going to be an exciting football season this year, and fans will definitely adore this year’s collection of team kits. It won’t be long until every football clubs’ fan has their own jersey for the 2011-12 campaigns!

Many people believe that a cheap digital camera will take ugly pictures and an expensive digital camera will take good pictures, but I’d like to make it clear that there are really times when this distinction doesn’t work. What is true, is that not all digital cameras are equal. Certain cameras will be better at some things that another camera might not be very good at and there are also cameras that seem like they can do anything.

So maybe you’re thinking about buying a digital camera online and aren’t very sure about its quality or you’ve bought one that doesn’t take the pictures you want it to take very well. What should you do now? I did just say that every camera has its strengths, right? And that is what you’ll want to focus on.

I’ve owned several digital cameras already, and I can tell you I’ve had a few that I felt very limited on. However, looking back at the pictures I’ve taken, I can actually see some things that I really like about them. For example, the first digital camera I owned had a small 5 megapixel CCD, took pictures that were grainy no matter what ISO setting was used, were muted (and maybe even a bit desaturated) no matter what filter setting I had them on, and were never bright enough. But these negative characteristics also gave some of the pictures I took an aged look, and as long as they matched the nature of the subject, it made the pictures much more dramatic. In the same way, if you have a camera you’re not too sure of, it is still a good idea to take a second look at it and find out if there is a particular style of photography it would do very well at.

Of course, knowing what style it fits in right away requires a lot of first hand experience, but for the less experienced photographer, it provides a platform for discovery and learning. Limitations in a camera also allow you to expose its strengths because a camera’s negative characteristics can also become positive if they are used in the right way.

Another interesting fact is that you don’t need to have a DSLR to take professional looking pictures. All you simply need to do is learn the basics of photography enough to use the Manual Mode settings of a digital camera. Recently, I uploaded an album on Facebook that was shot mostly in black and white and people asked me what camera and what lens I used. They were surprised to find out that I didn’t use a DSLR in the album at all. I just understood my camera very well, and I knew the basics of photography enough to exploit its strengths. Of course, there are things that only a DSLR can do, but if you are still a beginner at photography, using a DSLR is actually a waste. The CCDs on point-and-shoot digital cameras usually last for a greater number of shots because they are not exposed to as much light as the CCDs in DSLRs, and the shutters in point-and-shoots don’t need to be replaced as often as they do in DSLRs. I’ve even heard of a professional photographer who actually prefers to work with those disposable cameras you can buy at a supermarket for US$5.00 or less.

So in short, don’t look down on a cheaper digital camera and discount it as a waste of your money. There are many cheap digital cameras that can achieve great results if you give them a chance and use them in the right way. They are also cheap enough not to worry about if they really don’t fit your needs. And to cut their cost down even more, you might want to get one at an online wholesale electronics shop.

Trivia Question: What is the the fastest racquet sport in the world?

Answer: Badminton staked the claim as the fastest racquet sport in the world in 2005, when the doubles start Fu Haifeng recorded a smash at 332kph (206mph)! It is also played on a smaller court than tennis, so the reaction speed required is also very high, however, table tennis does arguably require much faster reaction times.

Badminton, in fact, is a very demanding sport at higher levels and is a great way to keep fit. Many benefits have been linked with playing badminton and I know several people who have made noticeable improvements in their weight and physical fitness from playing badminton.

Okay, so the secret’s out, I play badminton as well, so I can give you an insight into the sport, should you ever want to give it a try. If you’ve been keeping track of my posts since I started with Big Box Store, I’ve already clued you in on many of my interests: travelling, cycling, architecture, gadgets, and networking – but badminton is one of those interests that really sits right up on the top of my list. It is one of the most fun sports I’ve ever tried.

So let me tell you a little bit of what I know about badminton. I’m targeting mostly people who are new to the sport and would like to know what equipment they should get to really enjoy their start in the sport of badminton.

First of all, I do suggest that you find out if there are any badminton clubs in your area. This will be one of the best ways for you to really build up motivation to pursue the sport more earnestly. Also, many badminton clubs will offer coaching for new players so that you can quickly improve your skills. However, if there are no badminton clubs in your area, you can setup an net, either indoors or outdoors, that you can use for practice or purely recreational games. Badminton courts and nets are standardized the world over, so with regards to those, you really don’t have anything to worry about – except that your own private court might not provide the training and competition that you will need to improve.

Next, you have to make a choice of racquet. For beginner players, this is where you can make improvements to your game simply by changing your equipment, and having good badminton equipment (or bad, I’ll explain later) will also help you progress as far as your skills are involved.

There are many choices that can be made when looking for a good racquet. These choices involve the weight of the racquet, the flexibility of the shaft, the size of the racquet’s grip, the weave of the strings, and the tension and size of the strings. That might sound like a lot to consider, but it’s easy enough to narrow those choices down to 3 questions:

Do you want to have more control over the shuttlecock or deliver more power in your smash?

Do you prefer that your grip provides you with a good feel of the racquet, or do you want it to be comfortable to hold?

Will you be using the racquet mainly for training or do you plan to be a little more competitive in your game?

These three questions will shape your racquet choice and even help you save money. They will also be answered differently by people at different levels of their game. Most beginners will answer the questions in this way:

I want to have more control over the shuttlecock.

I want the racquet to be more comfortable to hold.

I will be using the racquet mainly for training.

So let me explain what your racquet choice as a beginner would be like:

The weight of the racquet will play a big part in your need for control as a beginner. The heavier the racquet the less control you have over it, thus, professional grade racquets will usually be incredibly lighter than entry level racquets. But you must also keep in mind that you will be buying a racquet for training purposes, so it will probably benefit you more to buy a heavier racquet. Why? Because the heavier racquet will tire your arms more quickly, and allow you to develop more muscle strength and the endurance you will need for higher level play. You will need to put so much more effort into controlling the heavier racquet that switching to a lighter racquet later on will give you a better advantage.

The flexibility of the racquet’s shaft will also be an important consideration when buying for control. Shafts with medium flexibility have a spring effect that you can exploit as a beginner. The spring effect will help dampen low power shots so that you can learn to place them properly on the court. This same spring effect will also help you get the most power out of your stronger hits. This aspect usually constitutes the dividing line between the serious beginner and the purely recreational player. Racquets tend to become more flexible starting with carbon graphite racquets, so these will be the material of choice for the serious beginner, but a recreational player who will not undergo any training should be just fine with a steel or aluminum racquet.

The size of the racquet’s grip will relate to differences in comfort. The larger towel grips will normally be more comfortable, but the stock grips will allow you to feel the racquet more, and some players even prefer gripping the wood base of the handle. Feel in a racquet translates to more accurate shots and better control, however, it would be best for beginner players to prioritize comfort as this will allow them to endure the training sessions better, and it will help them familiarize themselves with the weight of the racquet – and add additional weight to train with as well.

The weave of the strings will also relate to control. There are 2 common weaves: standard and isometric. Standard weave has a smaller sweet spot in the middle, and is great for developing a feel for where the sweet spot is. Isometric weave has a larger sweet spot and is more forgiving.

The tension and size of the strings will translate to control as well. Higher tensions will produce a stronger more even bounce, so it can aid in control, but lower tensions will force you to achieve the control that’s needed to place your shots right and will require a larger movement for your return, so it will develop the muscles you will need later on in your game. The smaller the size of your strings, the better and finer your control, but smaller strings will also break sooner, so you’ll want to keep that in mind.

With those considerations in mind, it won’t be hard for you to choose a racquet that will fit your training requirements and help you improve your game.

Finally, the last choice will be your choice of shuttlecock. There are 2 types of shuttlecocks that you can use: plastic and feather. Plastic shuttlecocks fly slower, but have a more even speed throughout their flight. They are also less affected by wind, so they are best for outdoor play. Feather shuttlecocks leave the racquet at a much faster speed than plastic shuttlecocks, but will lose a greater percentage of that speed along their flight, and giving players time to play their shots better – and this property of feather shuttlecocks also allows feather shuttlecocks to be played with more creativity. Feather shuttlecocks are greatly affected by the wind so will almost never be used outdoors. They are, however, the type of shuttlecock that is preferred by serious players, and all major badminton competitions use feather shuttlecocks. Feather shuttlecocks can also be quite expensive in Western countries.

There is no set standard when choosing a shuttlecock other than the type of play they are rated for – there are shuttlecocks intended for training and shuttlecocks that are rated for competitive play. They should not be mixed up as training shuttlecocks will break more easily and have a softer bounce, so using them in competitive play will end with disastrous results. Also, different shuttlecocks will perform better in different environments. Some shuttlecocks will play better in higher altitudes or more humid weather, but there is no standardized rating for this, so you might want to try different shuttlecocks first before sticking with the one you feel plays best in your area.

The final consideration, if you are a beginner is cost. Badminton equipment can be quite expensive. Fortunately, you can get a lot of the equipment wholesale from China. A lot of badminton equipment is manufactured in China, as the sport is very popular there. Feathers are also very inexpensive in Asia, primarily in China, where ducks and geese are grown in large quantities, so if feather shuttlecocks are expensive where you live, you might want to consider buying them from China instead, as well.
